Get to Know Van Gogh
This summer camp will examine the work of Vincent Van Gogh. Students will spend the week learning about the mastery of Van Gogh. Join us to understand Van Gogh’s mastery of color collocation, and learn how you can apply it to your own work
Ages: 7yrs and up (content is adjusted for each student’s level)
Part A:
- Acrylic Paintings: Finish two pieces on a regular-sized canvas with regular acrylic tools. (Younger students may finish just one piece)
- Simple Color Theory: saturation/desaturation, light/dark, environment development.
- Composition: Foreground, middle ground and background. Learn about capturing the focal point of the picture and the basic composition of the picture.
Part B:
- Scratchboard: Learn about how black and white scratch paper can directly express the contrast of light and dark of the scene, and show the ability to shape the scene in two-dimensional space by adding texture to the surface of the scraper.
