PEN SUMMER MUSIC INTENSIVE STUDY
RCM Theory, Harmony, Counterpoint and History
Important: Students enrolling in these intensive studies programs must be committed to attending all classes and completing the homework. This commitment will ensure a successful exam experience after the course.
Textbooks: PEN will provide students with the necessary textbooks at the beginning for the course. Fees for the books are extra.
Exam fees: PEN administration will assist the parent in registering for the RCM exams. Exam fees are paid separately from any course fees.
RCM 5 Theory
July 7 to August 25
Mondays 1pm – 3pm
- Class Length 2 hours
- One class each week
This summer intensive program will prepare you for the RCM Level 5 theory test. You will register for the exam and you will be prepared to complete the exam by September.

RCM Theory Levels 6-8
RCM Exam Preparation
July 8 – August 21
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1pm-3pm
- Class Length 2 hours
- Two classes each week
This intensive study will prepare you to write your RCM Level 8 theory exam before September. Level 8 theory is required if you wish to obtain a high school arts credit through RCM.

If you are interested in composition, songwriting, or any form of creative musical output, the RCM 9 harmony course is the foundation you need to write interesting music that expresses your ideas.

Take a step back in time and learn about the fascinating music starting as far back as the Middle Ages and learn the techniques of master composers. You will be introduced to the music of:
- The Middle Ages
- The Renaissance Era
- The Baroque Era
- The Classical Era
