CLASSES

Feel the joy of chess.

Life skills education, to strengthen confidence, cooperation, resilience, decision making, problem solving, participation, critical thinking, empathy, communication, self regulation pattern recognition, initiative, creativity, negotiation, respect.

P.E.N. Education Centre in Partnership with the CIC offers chess classes for ages 5 and up.

Weekly Chess Club

  • Fridays:
    • Beginner players 4pm-5pm ($25/class)
    • Intermediate players 5pm-6:30pm ($35/class)
  • Where: PEN Education Centre, 165 Cross Ave Unit 106, Oakville, ON

TOURNAMENTS

Chess tournaments are rated with the Chess Federation of Canada.

  • CFC Number/ID is required to play (this is a nationally rated tournament)
  • Limited to 40 players
  • Swiss Tournament (5 rounds)
  • Game in 25 minutes plus 5 seconds delay per move (Bronstein)
  • Pizza lunch included
  • No walk ins
