The PEN 11

“P.E.N. Eleven” is a semi-pro jazz ensemble consisting of young up-and-coming jazz players in the GTA ages 14-18.  This ensemble meets weekly to work on music of the jazz greats and new music from Canadian composers and arrangers.  The PEN 11 will attend multiple music competitions and be featured in at least four performance showcases throughout the year. 

Members will enjoy workshops organized with top Canadian jazz musicians and educators such as Lorne Lofsky, Alex Dean and more.  The PEN Eleven will enjoy learning what it is like to be a working musician.  The ensemble will have the opportunity to perform publicly and represent P.E.N. in workshops at nearby colleges and universities.  

Sundays 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 

Instrumentation: 

• 3 Saxophones
  • Alto, tenor, tenor/baritone
  • Doubling on clarinet and flute is an asset
• 2 Trumpets
  • mutes and flugel horns.
