P.E.N. Jr. Force
Expand your musical repertoire at P.E.N.
Jr. Force Jazz Ensemble has made a big splash the past 2 years. These young players, ages 9-12, are very experienced in regional, provincial and national competitions, and music festivals earning multiple Gold and 1st Place Awards. The band learns jazz and contemporary music of great musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Santana, Duke Ellington and more. There is a strong emphasis on improvising solos and stage performance. The band also learns about jazz and blues history and Canadian jazz culture.
This year, we are welcoming more students who love jazz and want to learn to improvise and perform.
Thursdays: 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Eligibility:
- Open to PEN music students actively enrolled in private lessons on their instrument.
- Dedication and strong attendance for weekly rehearsals
- Mandatory attendance at competitions, festivals and performances.
